Fill Your Garden with Fragrance this Christmas
Plant these beautiful sweet scented Christmas Box -Sarcococca – outside your back door and you will be greeted by the most wonderful fragrance. This is a fabulous evergreen, dwarf growing shrub, ideal for sunny or partial shade spots. With pretty white flowers in late December through to February it makes a fabulous shrub for winter interest and would be great in a pot- a perfect gift for Christmas that will be remembered for years.
Plant Winter Containers Now
We still see lots of miserable looking summer tubs or hanging baskets around. This is a real shame because there are so many beautiful plants to provide colour all through the long winter months. skimmia Rubella is a super small evergreen shrub with buds that become progressively deeper red throughout winter. This makes a wonderful central plant and looks wonderful when planted with cineraria Silver Dust, cyclamen and winter pansies and ivies. There are lots of other plants that are great for winter colour, Holies with there wonderful berries, Gaultheria with white lantern flowers and red berries, Erica darlyensis -winter flowering heathers and there are so many more. Make Your Own Deodorant
Witch Hazel has fabulous healing and soothing properties -great for spots, bites and bruises. If you have especially sensitive skin you can add it to vodka with lavender, bergamot cypress and orange water to create a natural skin healing deodorant. Of course Hamamelis makes a wonderful winter flowering shrub,- this time growing a little larger and with beautiful golden yellow flowers with the most wonderful winter fragrance,
